Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost planning
  • Manage procurement and tender processes
  • Evaluate contractor bids and negotiate contracts
  • Monitor project costs and prepare cost reports
  • Process and certify contractor payments
  • Manage variations and claims
  • Prepare final accounts and project close-out documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related field
  • Registered with AQRB (Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board)
  • Minimum 4 years of quantity surveying experience
  • Proficiency in QS software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft, Cubit)
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials pricing
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Experience with contract administration and procurement

About This Role

We're seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. In this role, you'll be instrumental in ensuring our projects are delivered within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards.

What You'll Do

As a Quantity Surveyor at Tujenge Construction, you'll manage the financial aspects of construction projects from inception to completion. You'll work closely with project managers, architects, and contractors to optimize costs and ensure value for money.

Key Responsibilities

Your work will span the entire project lifecycle:

  • Pre-construction: Cost planning, feasibility studies, and budget development
  • Procurement: Tender documentation, bid evaluation, and contract negotiation
  • Construction: Cost monitoring, payment certification, and variation management
  • Completion: Final accounts, claims settlement, and project close-out
